Mental Health First Aid England (MHFA England) is both an international and nationally recognised training course which is underpinned by regional, national and global research and evaluation (Jarman, 2017 in Adult MHFA, 2017:7)
With 1 in 4 people (Mental Health Task Force, 2016 in Adult MHFA, 2017; 74) experiencing mental health issues each year, raising awareness, about mental health is vital in helping to break down bias, prejudice and reducing the fear and stigma associated with mental ill health is a high priority
Mental Health Champions can make a real difference to their workplace, changing attitudes, supporting colleagues to discuss mental health and encouraging people to seek support.
We will always talk about prevention and working to create better mental health for all with the emphasis on hope for recovery.
This course gives an overview of the more common mental health conditions, how they might be identified in the workplace and techniques to support or refer colleagues in need of assistance.
Who is this Mental Health Champion course for?
This course is ideal for anyone over the age of 19 who work with customers, the general public or colleagues every day and who would like to improve their understanding of the essentials of mental health, in order to provide support to others or to support Mental Health First Aiders in the workplace.
On completion of the one day course you will receive a certificate of attendance from the instructor and an e-certificate from Mental Health First Aid.
Delegates need to attend the full day in order to receive a certificate.
This course is delivered over 1 day.
What will I learn on the Mental Health Champion course?
- Recognise the main signs and symptoms of mental ill health

- Guide the person towards appropriate professional help
- Develop an understanding of how you can create and maintain a healthier and more productive workforce
- Be mindful of your own well-being
You will also be provided with a One Day Course Manual that provides a lot of up to date and research based information to support the course, a personal one day workbook , a Z card with crisis and ALGEE instructions and a Line Managers Resource Book.
There is no formal assessment for this course, however you need to attend for the full duration of the day to be awarded a certificate of attendance.
