NCFE Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care

The NCFE Award in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care is an accredited Level 1 qualification and is part of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF)

This qualification aims to develop individual’s basic knowledge of the adult social care sector. It will provide candidates with the opportunity to:

• Explore the range of employment options available to them within the Health and Social Care sector
• Gain an insight into their roles and responsibilities
• Look at different scenarios to help them think about what they would do in a given situation
• Give them the knowledge they need to enter a career in Health and Social Care

Course Content

NCFE Level 1 in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care qualification consists of 5 mandatory units:

• Introduction to the adult social care sector
• Introduction to the values and principles of adult social care
• Awareness of the skills and attitudes needed to work in adult social care
• Awareness of the communication in adult social care
• Awareness of the role and responsibilities of the adult social care worker

The Safeguarding Adults course will provide candidates with the understanding of:

• What is meant by abuse
• How to recognise abuse – signs and indicators
• Prevention of abuse
• The action to take if abuse is suspected or occurring
