The Care Quality Commission and principle 3 of the Handling of Medication in Social Care RPSGB 2007 both require that “care staff who help people with their medicines are competent”, all people administering medication in the care setting must have some training to safeguard the people they are caring for.

This course is designed to be an introduction for carers who are working towards the administration of medicines in a care setting, along with supervision of practice in the workplace by the care provider.

• Introduction to common medications in use along with side effects
• Introduction to reference guides
• Introduction to record keeping
