The Care Quality Commission and principle 3 of the Handling of Medication in Social Care RPSGB 2007 both require that “care staff who help people with their medicines are competent”, all people administering medication in the care setting must have some training to safeguard the people they are caring for.

This safe handling of medicines course is designed to meet this demand along with supervision of practice in the work place, by the care provider.

Course Content

• Legislation including workplace policies and procedures
• Recognising different types of medication
• Identification of safe practice when handling and administering medicines
• Monitoring the effects of medication
